理財故事
一名家境富裕的學生，每周零用錢一千多元，多到將買東西剩下來的硬幣當成碎石，隨手亂丟或打水漂。家境清寒的台南市開元國小六年級學生蘇敏貴，上完理財教育課程後，將獎學金儲蓄起來謹慎使用，還捐了五百元給教育部設立的「教育儲蓄專戶」，幫助經濟弱勢學生就學。
中華民國財金智慧教育推廣協會將理財教育扎根至國小，編了一套教材，協會祕書長陳琬惠說，學校正規教育欠缺理財教育，國小社會領域教材中，理財只有一、二頁，嚴重不足。
因理財教育不足，導致社會充斥混亂的金錢價值觀，襲擊全台的卡債風暴讓許多甫出社會的年輕人、甚至有不少大專學子欠下鉅額卡債。因此協會積極推動理財教育走入校園，這學期找七所國小試教，台南市開元國小是其中一校。
富爸爸給千元 他拿零錢送同學
開元國小班導師陳豔如稱讚小六的蘇敏貴，家境清寒，志氣卻不窮。蘇敏貴說，他覺得省錢不是難事，而且學了很多省錢的好方法。
陳豔如說，她利用這套教材和綜合活動(每周有三節)時間，教學生理財觀念。理財是有方法的，首先必須要求學生養成記帳習慣，也要教導學生從各種角度思考。
例如，有一名學生要買玩具和氣球，她就對學生說，「你一個人買，要花那麼多錢；很多同學一起買，平分後，可以省下很多錢，而且得到的樂趣一樣多！」
養成記帳習慣 不買零食買好書
試教學校中，有個學生家裡很有錢，家長每周給他一千多元零用錢，和同學到便利商店買東西吃的時候，零錢就送給同學。他認為，硬幣沒有用，於是亂丟或用來打水漂。
此外，由學生的記帳本可發現，大多數的零用錢都用來買垃圾食物；也有學生雖然零用錢很少，但每天除了早餐，幾乎不買零食，有了足夠存款後，會去買莎士比亞的書來閱讀。
借錢不還 成為班上拒絕往來戶
屏東縣新園國小六年級導師林秋萍說，社會領域中有關學生理財的內容確實不夠，不要說學生，連她自己都應加強理財觀念。
李秋萍說，前些日子學生參加畢業旅行，因理財課程中有教學生怎樣分配使用錢財，所以學生都將畢業旅行三天要花費的錢，放在不同的三個荷包內，以免第一天就用完了。此外，小學生間常有一些借錢的行為，上完理財教育課程後，借錢不還的同學，大家就不太願意再借給他了。
